Aidan Gray wannabe

Welcome fellow yardsale and thrift enthusiasts!

Do you lust after these lamps?

I sure do.

Can't afford the $200-600 price tag?

Neither can I.....

Meet my new $16.99 find, courtesy of the local stinky Goodwill:

I saw it and my heart skipped a beat. I had the shade, but I might treat it to a round linen number, like lamp number 1 above... LOVE. My Goodwill has been amazing lately, with it's funky little self with rude employees and smoky air and piles of trash and gangsters outside. This beauty is worth it, no?

p.s. and even sweeter, it's resting it's hiney on my $5 garage sale french round side table {painted & stained by moi... it was ugly brown when I bought it, but still}

p.p.s. for every major score I find at Goodwill, I leave 5 times empty handed. Just keepin it real so you don't think I have the best Goodwill ever. I don't. I see YOUR yardsale/thrift finds and I can't believe my eyes!

p.p.s.s. {or is it p.p.p.s.?} for more aidan gray, go here

p.p.p.p.s. or whatever - I think I need to treat mr. fauxgray to a little paint or stain to authenticate it and give it a little depth and age. ideas?

TOTALLY FAB! I love it. And I love how you kept it real, by saying that you walk out empty handed half the time, because sometimes I feel like the only person who doesn't find that "great thing" like everyone else, when I go to the DI/Goodwill.
I totally think that you should go with the linen shade! It just... makes it. I love that shape too.
Anywho... love your blog... love your ideas and finds. Thanks for sharing!

What fun! I also agree that a linen shade would look spiffy. I'm watching HGTV's "Luxourious Living Rooms" right now...well I'm really only 1/2 watching it out of the corner of one eye...so I haven't seen everything.

ps So sorry to hear that your GW is a stinkorama...does it at least have good music? The closest one to me out in the toolies always has great music...the customers stroll along humming or even singing. Yesterday, a nice singing lady even called over to me and suggested some valances she found that she thought matched something in my cart. Aren't junkers the best?

My local Goodwills and thrift shops are stinky places, too. But to get a lamp like that would be worth it. Good for you! I don't have good yard sales around here and can't believe what other bloggers find...unreal!

LOL - stinky Goodwill - sounds like you've been to mine. But hold your nose baby, cuz you got a steal of a deal on that fabulous lamp! Yay!

I'd love for you to join me for an "Heirloom Party" over at my blog on July 31st. If you're interested, come on by for the details!

Love the lamp, what a great find! I have a couple of local thrift stores that are stinky too, so I can really relate. A linen shade would look lovely on it.
I have two lamps {I'll have to post a pic on my blog} that are almost identical to the fourth lamp down. You have great taste.

That is a great find - I would love it with the linen shade!

That is a cute lamp. Did you disinfect it and to make it smell better? LOL What is it about Goodwill stores and that same weird smell in ALL of them?! I'd go for a lighter colored shade- I think there is too much contrast with the black one.

I swear I just snorted with your gangster goodwill comments. Great find though!

Goodwill can be so rewarding and then such a let down--just depends on timing, I guess. Love the lamp--great find for sure! Hope to see you over my way soon...

So nice to meet you...thank you for the sweet compliments. Your cottage is in the shades that I love...and all the white dishware everywhere!!! Your girls names are so unique and lovely. I will be back!

PS We like to go to Salmon Creek Beach...it is a long spance of beach just over the dunes. We camp at Sonoma Coast State Park ~Bodega Dunes Campground. Just north of the campground exit is Salmon Creek with a scattering of cute beach cottages and a 'free' parking lot to enter the beach from. We've been going there for over 20 yrs. and it is still our favorite beach.

Fabulous lamp, and I love the finish on the table. :) our Goodwills are icky too. I think it must be a prerequisite to have one of those stores. Visiting from Rhoda's party. :)

Such a pretty lamp and great find! It's encouraging that you don't find major scores every time you go to Goodwill. I have yet to have success and have in fact given up the last couple of months. Maybe I should try again!

Great find! Way to tough it out in the yucky store. Sometimes I move pretty quick to get in and out of some of the thrifts around here.

Oh, I love those lamps! You have really been working hard in your house lately, it's looking so pretty. I could kick myself for not buying a marble based lamp at an estate sale recently. It was $37 & I really should have bought it.
